With the birth of her son in 1998, Rowe re-claimed her space as an artist and completed three bodies of work in only three years with “Pleasing Female Imagery,' 'Human Shells as Temples', and “FemElements'. 'Pleasing Female Imagery' began with the tragic discovery that one of Rowe’s closest friends was diagnosed with terminal cancer. In tribute to her, Rowe created a sculpture based on her friend’s image and likeness. As more friends found out about the works they sent their photographs to Rowe so they also would be sculpted. Each piece captures the spirit of the person and the life they have led rather than a direct portrait. In many ways this series was the confrontation of death and loss and the process of grief.
